The Amanzi Yachts Fractional Ownership Concept

Amanzi Yachts have revolutionised the idea of owning a dream yacht.

The concept of fractional ownership as used by Amanzi Yachts allow you to own a luxury cruising yacht at a fraction of the cost and then to enjoy the yachting experience without any of the worries of maintenance, insurance, dockage, haul-out, crew problems and the like.

Some people find the responsibility and commitment of full yacht ownership overwhelming – usually only after they have purchased the yacht. Many people are surprised by the amount of time and money required in owning and maintaining their yacht.

Enjoy only the good things

The Amanzi Yachts Fractional Ownership Program allows you to enjoy all the good things about owning your dream yacht, without any of the not-so-good things that go with it.

Up to Twelve co-owners

The program allows for up to twelve co-owners to buy a single new yacht.   The cost of the yacht and the expenses of maintaining the yacht are shared by the co-owners.  The whole program is organised and professionally managed by Amanzi Yachts for a modest management fee.  In this way each owner pays only a twelfth of the cost of purchasing  the vessel and maintaining it in pristine condition, whilst being able to enjoy more than average use time of his yacht.

Fixed expenses

All expenses required for the insurance, mooring, maintenance and upgrading of the yacht are pre-estimated by Amanzi Yachts. Each owner pays only a fixed monthly payment which also includes the management fee. 

At the end of four years the yacht is sold and the proceeds divided equally between the owners.  Because the vessel is professionally maintained and required upgrades arranged by Amanzi Yachts, the yacht maintains optimum resale value.  We are sure that you would then elect to re-invest in a new Amanzi Yachts fractional ownership program.

Up to 4 weeks use per year

Owning a 1/12 fractional share entitles an owner to use the yacht for up to 4 weeks  of the year.  An easy to use on-line or telephonic reservation system allows for fair rotation of peak time use and almost limitless possibilities in between.  Reservations can be made 24 hours a day up to 48 hours before use.

 Service

For those who are not experienced sailors or who would prefer that someone else does the work, Amanzi Yachts can provide qualified captains and crew as and when required.  We also offer a provisioning service, a concierge service and personalisation of your yacht each time you use it.

Ownership Protection

Each yacht is owned by a special separate company created for this purpose. Each 1/12th fractional owner has 1/12th  of the shares in the company, which is managed by Amanzi Yachts.

In this way, your ownership interests are protected in the event of anything happening to Amanzi. 

It also provides an easy mechanism for a fractional owner to sell his shares at any time prior to the end of the program cycle.

Each transaction is governed by properly drawn legal documents in a fully transparent process with no hidden costs.

Each owner retains financial and legal control of his shares in the company that owns the particular yacht. It cannot be affected or encumbered by the actions of other owners.  The boat may not be used as security for a loan by anyone and will remain the free and unencumbered property of the owning company for the duration of the Program.

More Sailing Time

Fractional ownership does not necessarily translate into reduced time on the water.    Studies have shown that typical yacht owners in the USA only use their yachts about 26 – 30 days per year.  

Under the Amanzi Yachts fractional ownership program your 1/12 fractional ownership allows you 4 weeks of use a year!    If 4 weeks a year are not enough, simply purchase additional shares.

Additional Services

As a member of the Amanzi Yachts Fractional Ownership Program, you are able to benefit by the additional services offered by Amanzi at an additional cost. These include:

·        Provisioning Service.  You just call ahead and we will shop and deliver your supplies aboard.

·        Crew Service.  If you are not an experienced sailor or if you simply want to relax on board with your guests and leave the work to someone else, then we can provide qualified crew to sail the boat for you to any destination you desire.

·        Concierge Service.  We can arrange local tours, wine tasting excursions, restaurant and theatre bookings, car hire, collection from the airport, etc.

·        Personalisation Service.  Amanzi can ensure that your favourite personal effects are on the yacht when you arrive. For example, you may have special CD’s, videos or water toys or special cushions, etc. that we would keep for you and ensure that those are on board each time you use the yacht.

·     Cleaning Service.  Although each owner is responsible for basic cleaning of the boat after using it, we are able to offer a full cleaning service, if required.

Models Used in the Program

Amanzi Yachts are constantly reviewing and evaluating  the latest yachts for possible inclusion in our fractional ownership program.

We only use yachts which are designed by internationally recognised yacht designers and built by manufacturers who have established impeccable world class reputations for quality and service.

We prefer mid-size cruising catamarans because of the high level of comfort, space and stability offered by these vessels compared with equivalent sized mono-hulled yachts. Our yachts are fast cruisers, easily handled by two people and capable of circumnavigating the globe in luxury and safety.

Easy Scheduling

·        A typical share entitles the owner to 4 weeks or 28 days of use annually, to be used as  full weeks.

·        Peak season use is rotated so as to allow each owner fair use in peak periods

·        Amanzi Yachts ensures that all scheduling is done in a fair and equal manner

·        Reservations are made by using the easy reservation plan online or by phone and can be made up to 12 hours before use.

·        Reservations are guaranteed, but you may cancel your booking at any time.

·        Monthly statements are issued which set out time available on an updated schedule, or check your status online 24 hours a day.

Hassle Free Yachting

It is estimated that the average yacht owner requires 15-25 hours per month to maintain his yacht and that the cost of maintenance, mooring, insurance, required upgrades, and the like, cost approximately 9%-16% of the purchase price annually.

Many yacht owners have demanding careers and business and family demands that drain their available time and energy.  Few of us have the time or inclination to regularly attend to the myriad of tasks required to maintain a yacht in pristine condition, ready to sail at any time.  This is especially true for those who live far away from their yacht.

Put the pleasure back into pleasure boating

The yachting experience is often spoilt by relatively minor problems such as a dead battery, blocked drains, smelly cabins because of being closed for too long in a damp environment, no ice, low fuel or gas problems, etc.  These are irritations which cause yachting to become a drag and which detract from what should be a very pleasurable experience.

As a member of the Amanzi Yachts Fractional Ownership Program, you are freed from all of these hassles.   We ensure that your yacht has been thoroughly inspected and prepped prior to your arrival. All you need to do is step on board and enjoy your boat with your guests.   

Amanzi Yachts will take care of all maintenance requirements, insurance, mooring, required upgrades, preparation prior to use, refuelling and even the provision of a competent captain and crew if required.

Distinct from Time Share or Charter Management

Fractional Ownership is distinctly different from the concept of time-share.  Time-sharing is not suitable for yacht ownership. In time-share the use of an asset is typically divided into 52 shares which each represent one week’s use. Time not used can be ‘banked’ and made available to anybody else by the scheme management. The underlying structure can be in various forms such as sectional title or share-block ownership.  Individual use is very limited and the asset is shared by multiple users.

With  Amanzi Yachts’ Fractional Ownership, the number of co-owners are limited to only 12 people.  A co-owner has almost unlimited possibilities to use his yacht when and where he desires. Aside from the co-owners and their invited guests, the yacht is not available for use by other people. The yacht is owned by the company which in turn is owned by the co-owners.

Many charter companies regularly recruit yachting enthusiasts  to purchase yachts and place them in charter fleets to reduce the annual operating costs incurred by the owner.  Fractional ownership not only reduces the total cost significantly more than a charter operation can offer, but it also reduces the initial capital cost to a fraction of what is required by a charter operation. Because multiple people use the boat during charter operations and they do not exercise the same care as an owner would, the yacht does not retain as high a resale value as a fractional ownership yacht
